As the holiday season approaches, it's time to finally put that "War on Christmas" nonsense to rest. Historically, Christmas is a time when soldiers have laid down their weapons. Given Christ's reputation, I doubt he would be happy about declaring war in his name concerning the day you celebrate his birth.

The Walled Garden and Security

This week one of the largest breaches of iOS software was disclosed. The breach came about due to a hacked version of Xcode. Dubbed XcodeGhost, the exploit uses a hacked version of Xcode to install additional code which can be used for password phishing and limited  collection of other data on the device.

Welcome New Riders – Please Ride Safe

When I first began riding, I started by doing solo long distance rides or rides with just a couple of friends. I felt extremely comfortable with my riding before I even attempted to ride with a larger group and even then I wasn't as safe a rider as I am now. Cycling used to be a mostly male dominated sport, but that has changed and it's great that this has changed because everyone should get to experience the benefits and joys of this wonderful sport. More women and men are riding today than ever before, and this is amazing.

The Rule of Three

During the many years I spent working at bicycle shops, I came up with this philosophy about how bicycles work or don't work. I call this "The Rule of Three." It's not exactly the same as the superstitious belief that "bad things come in threes." The rule simply states that you can have three very minor issues with your drivetrain and it will probably still work. On the fourth issue, it will stop working as it should.
