Gone Biking

Eight years ago Sharon asked me if I’d like to ride a double century on a tandem. I agreed and soon found myself signed up for 6 that year, as well as The Climb to Kaiser. This year, we will be “gone biking” in a major way.

It is one day before our PAC Tour ride begins. Tomorrow Sharon and I will hop on our tandem and begin riding an average of 100 miles a day for 12 days straight. Beginning in Everett Washington, we will eventually (hopefully) work our way down to Ashland, Oregon.

Dinner tonight was excellent and we had a chance to meet some of the riders we will be spending the next two weeks suffering with. It appears we will be the only tandem on this trip. As the departure time nears, Sharon has begun to resemble a deer caught in the headlights. I imagine I don’t look much better. Afraid to look in the mirror to find out.

bike-on-rackStay tuned for more as the drama of 1238 miles unfolds, assuming I have any strength left in me to work my fingers at the end of each day. ?
